Noble Idea was Born in 2017!
They say charity begins at home! Likewise, a certain young couple started their journey of assisting families and friends who are in need of financial aid for education, medical treatment and debt re-payment. In the summer of 2017, when they had visited their native place Tripura, India, after spending a decade in the United States of America, they witnessed first hand the ongoing challenges and difficulties faced by the community. The duo became overwhelmed by the ongoing drug addiction crisis, poor public healthcare, lack of mental health care and unemployment issue among the local youth. This ignited the urge within them for giving back to the community and the feeling that the need of the hour was to help the community.
One fine morning in October 2017 at breakfast table the philanthropic idea was born in the minds of USA based couple – Dr. Swarnalata Debbarma, MD, Psychiatrist and Mr. Madhab Deb Barma – to broaden impact at society level, to help the deprived, poor and under-served communities back home in their native place Tripura, India. The underlying philosophical concept for the big idea was the couple’s steadfast belief that everyone has God-given rights to live healthy, secure, prosperous, fulfilling and satisfying life in this world, even if the person belongs to the most deprived and under-served areas of the planet. They believe that an indvidual’s inborn/acquired talent, skill, good education, great career, and healthy mind and body are the main ingredients and keys to the success and satisfied life of that person.
The couple’s burning desire to educate help and uplift their own communities back home, together with their belief and philosophical tenets motivated them to explore big ideas, analyze means and ways to help, logistical details for delivering assistance, and understand focus areas where their charitable help can make maximum impact to people’s lives and the communities where they live. This visionary idea gave birth to YAK BAI YAK FOUNDATION!
